This 1 day tour takes you to the beautiful traditional town of Villa De Leyva where time stands still. The town was declared a national monument in 1954, it has been preserved in its entirety and virtually no modern architecture exists.

Villa de Leyva is a surprise to many with its breathtaking scenery. The road from Bogotá travels through gorgeous green and expansive valley’s before turning at Tunja into a drier desert climate. It’s a marvel to visitors to see how many varied ecological and climatic differences there are in the country and in which can be appreciated during this particular tour.

This tour to Villa De Leyva will take you through the enchanting cobblestoned streets that lead you around the colonial architecture of white-washed houses with their wooden shutters, doors and balconies decorated with plants, hanging pots and colorful bougainvillea and geranium flowers. Here you will enjoy a typical lunch before going to the fossil museum which houses a 120 million year old fossil of a prehistoric marine reptile still in its original place. The tour will then head back to Bogota passing through the town of Raquira where you can see brightly colored buildings and visit a number of craft shops, which the town is well known for, such as pottery, hammocks and baskets.
