Explore UNESCO historic sites, dive pristine reefs off tropical islands, kayak through mangrove tunnels, and hike through immensely beautiful rainforests and mountains to discover a preserved pre Colombian civilization city

This tour will begin in Cartagena, a beautiful and romantic city well preserved with its historical sites such as the grand San Felipe Fortress, and old walled city built by the Spanish conquers, and which defended attacking pirates. You will then follow the coastline north towards the oldest city of Colombia, Santa Marta where you will begin your trip that will lead you up into the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the Lost City. Returning from this magical and rewarding journey you will then head back to Cartagena from where you will go by boat to the diverse and tropical Rosario Islands, to enjoy the sandy beaches and incredible reefs through a scuba diving trip and kayak through the mangrove tunnels.

Daily breakdown

Day 1 – Cartagena

Arrive to Cartagena, take transfer to your hotel located within the old walled city. Settle in and relax.

Day 2 – Cartagena

Free day to explore this incredible historical city, follow its cobblestone streets and get lost in the beautiful and sunny atmosphere.

Day 3 – Santa Marta

After a breakfast at the hotel in the morning, take transport to Santa Marta, where you will settle into your accommodation and have the rest of the afternoon to explore.

Day 4 – Sierra Nevada

Start of Lost City Journey, Leave the city of Santa Marta at 9.00 am for a 2.5 hour journey to the beginning of our hike at the town of Machete. Here we will begin the first leg of our hike of 3.5 hours through the spectacular Sierra Mountains, one of the most beautiful landscapes in the World! We will stop for a Light lunch along side the River Mamey where we can also bathe in the refreshing waters and relax before continuing. In the afternoon we will arrive to Camp 1 of our journey where we will install hammocks and spend the night here with a dinner and rest.

Day 5 – Sierra Nevada

At 7.30 am we will have breakfast, and continue hiking the Sierra for approximately 4.5 hours during which we will visit some indigenous villages of the Koguis and Mutanyi. Later we can enjoy bathing in the river before arriving to Camp 2, where we will install hammocks, eat lunch and enjoy the river Buritaca. Here we will chat about the Tayrona Culture before dinner and rest.

Day 6 – Lost City

Arise at 6.30am for breakfast and continue the journey of approximately 5.5 hours. We will visit along the way the indigenous town of Koskuguena and later continue along the river facing one of the most magical, mysterious and mystical, thousand year old locations where we will ascend up to 1.183 meters until we encounter the Lost City (arriving approximately at 3 pm). Once we arrive we will settle ourselves and eat dinner and rest.

Day 7 – Lost City

After breakfast, we will take a circuit of the historical city. After lunch we can bathe in the lost city’s creeks and rest for the afternoon to contemplate and enjoy the tropical jungle around us.

Day 8 – Sierra Nevada

After breakfast we will begin our journey at 7.00am to Camp 2. Once we arrive we will lunch and afterwards continue a journey of approximately 7 hours to arrive to Camp 1 (arriving at approximately 4.30 pm) where we will eat and rest.

Day 9 – Santa Marta

Breakfast and leave for the town of Machete, bathing in the River Mamey before heading back to Santa Marta where the Lost City journey ends. Settle back into hotel in Santa Marta to relax.

Day 10 – Cartagena

After breakfast, head back to Cartagena, to settle into hotel located within the old walled city. Free time.

Day 11 – Rosario Islands

Make your way to the port to take the hotels boat to hotel located on the Rosario Islands. Upon arrival to the island, settle yourself onto the island before taking a dive trip in the afternoon to the surrounding reefs and dive spots. Afterwards settle into to you hotel on the island and relax in the tropical weather and surroundings.

Day 12 – Rosario Islands

Wake up in paradise! And enjoy a breakfast before heading out for a kayak through the mangrove tunnels. Leave the island in the later afternoon to return to Cartagena to head back to hotel located within the old walled city.

Day 13 – Cartagena

Enjoy a breakfast at hotel. Take transfer to airport
