Our first post for the Official Colombia Travel Bloggers Project!
One thing that I love about living in Bogotá is learning the different Colombian slang, hand gestures and subtle quirks in the culture.
Colombian´s are renowned for being incredibly friendly and respectful to foreigners. If you look lost on the street, people will literally come up to you and say in English ´Do you need some help?´. Yet of course there still exists a cultural barrier; and apart from being interesting, it´s amazing the postive difference that learning some local customs and culture makes when traveling to Colombia; in making friends, getting a good price when shopping and general interpersonal communication.
Despite Colombia´s truly astonishing diversity, there is one thing that everyone who visits the country agrees on: the friendliness and joy of the Colombian people is what most makes you want to stay. For this reason we present to you the most common Colombian hand gestures – to help you break down that barrier and slip smoothly into Colombian culture.
